Club Fearless Test #60

Extract venom from any venomous snake

In this video you will see professional venomous snake handler Ray Hunter extracting venom from a deadly Albino Monocled Cobra (Naja Kaouthia) This process is also known as "milking" the snake.

Antivenom, also known as antivenin, venom antiserum and antivenom immunoglobulin, is a medication made from antibodies which is used to treat certain venomous bites and stings. Antivenom is made by collecting venom from the relevant animal and injecting small amounts of it into a domestic animal such as a horse or pig.

The antibodies that form are then collected from the domestic animal's blood and purified.

The resulting cocktail is used to save the lives of people who have been bitten by a venomous snake. It’s estimated that nearly 250,000 people die worldwide each year from venomous snake bites. But only about 5 people die in every year in the US.

In stark contrast, over 1.2 million people die every year from heart disease and cancer. Yet most people don’t fear the causes of these diseases which are due largely to poor lifestyle choices, an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise and excessive stress and anxiety.

Stress is recognized by many as the No. 1 proxy killer disease today. The American Medical Association has noted that stress is the basic cause of more than 60 percent of all human illness and disease.

BREAKING NEWS: Now scientists are using the venom from Cobras to create powerful pain relieving medicines and prototype treatments to reverse cancer and heart disease (the two main killers of adults in the US)

What can kill you can also save your life. Fear is the enemy, not the snake. They must be respected and never touched or approached in the wild. Contrary to many myths, snakes do not “chase” or attack humans. They only use their fangs and strike to DEFEND themselves.

Strangely enough, there are also people who have built up their immunity to venomous snake bites by giving themselves mico-doses of venom from various species. Eventually they build up a resistance that allows them to take a direct bite without suffering what would normally cause fatal consequences.

In the same way, by regularly placing ourselves in stressful situations which create high levels of fear and anxiety we can also build up our "Immunity" to what would normally cause us to panic. The process can even be fun and exciting. By deliberate acts of courage in the face of fear the mind becomes stronger just as the body becomes stronger by regular exercise. Eventually we can "train" the nervous system to stay calm and collected in the most terrifying life situations.

“The difference between fear and appreciation is knowledge”

~Tom Crutchfield.

Special thanks to Mr Tom Crutchfield for allowing us to visit his venom extraction room and get an up close behind the scenes demonstration of this incredible process. Thank you to Ray Hunter for allowing us to watch you work. Thank you both for giving us some incredible knowledge about these amazing animals to help us put aside the irrational fears and phobias associated with snakes.

Warning!! Never try this at home.

If you want to learn how to extract venom you must get the proper training and mentorship from experienced licensed experts. This is most definitely not a “hold my beer” test of courage. Knowledge is Power. With the right knowledge and training you can overcome any fear.

Fears to overcome: The fear of death (Thantaphobia) The fear of pain and injury  (Algophonia) the fear of snakes (Ophidiophobia)
